Knowing What You Don’t Know Is Important?

“Let go of trying to control everything and control only what you can”
#HustleSmarter
Hey friends,
One thing I am starting to notice as I get older is that the older we get the more we feel like we know everything. We have experience and all of a sudden we feel like know it ALL. Yes, the older you become you gain more knowledge BUTTTTT that comfort zone of knowing it all is what I’m bringing to the table this week
Not going to lie, I do it myself. Nothing wrong with using your experience to help out future situations but I found myself also limiting myself. Almost like an ego thing, it’s like programmed in our brains to not admit we’re wrong or failing. Failing can be very beneficial…ill expand on that soon
Cmon you know you do it too..
The answer: Self Awareness
Being self aware to realize you’re in this “I know everything” mindset can be harmful BECAUSE it hinders growth. We don’t know everything it’s impossible and thinking we do is really bad. We all know that one person that thinks they know everything and yet where do they stand in the crowd?
The individuals who are constantly chasing new ideas are self aware to keep pushing in that direction.
Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Steve Jobs, Austin Fox…
Take a second to realize where you are at. Where can you improve? What don’t you know?
Try it for yourself
Have a great week!
Austin
Stuff I Enjoyed This Week
1. Website – BiggerPockets Forum – Top real estate forum that I use frequently to connect with other investors/agents/etc. I’ve used it before COVID and i’m sticking to it! Really cool way to network. Find a local forum for your field its important to stay in the loop
2. Book/Audible – 4 Hour Work Week– A book I have once read awhile back but have decided to reopen it. It is good to go back and reread some books you’ve once read. I was in a different head space when i read it the first time and starting again, you start to see things differently… a good different
3. Podcast – This interview with Matthew Walker (the guy who wrote the book Why We Sleep) on Bulletproof Radio was excellent. There were so many bits in this podcast that made me sit up straight (while driving) and think damn! this sleep stuff is really important.
